CHW provides a range of specialized services, courses, and recurring events designed to enhance the holistic well-being of Wisconsin National Guard Service Members and their family members aged 18 and above. These state-sponsored services are offered at no cost and are dedicated to fostering long-term behavior changes. CHW's approach centers on the five pillars of comprehensive health: mental, physical, spiritual, financial, and social.

Design Rationale (Project Objective)

My objective is to redesign the Comprehensive Health and Wellness (CHW) website, creating a user-friendly, organized platform. I aim to provide an improved user experience, ensuring easy access to information about CHW's services, courses, and events.

The brand message I want to convey is one of accessibility, support, and empowerment for Wisconsin National Guard Service Members and their families. The redesigned website will reflect CHW's commitment to holistic well-being and its focus on the five pillars of comprehensive health: mental, physical, spiritual, financial, and social health.

Target Market

The target market for Comprehensive Health and Wellness (CHW) primarily comprises Wisconsin National Guard Service Members, encompassing both the Army and Air Force branches, as well as their family members aged 18 and above. Additionally, CHW engages with stakeholders involved in funding and supporting its mission.

Heuristic Evaluation

After completing Web Design 1, I've learned to implement various web design principles and tools. This includes ensuring clear navigation, establishing visual hierarchy, following web design conventions, and using plain language for labeling and content.

Heuristic Evaluation

Throughout my analysis, I've pinpointed areas where improvements are needed in CHW's current website, particularly in terms of navigation and content clarity. These insights are invaluable as they guide the creation of a more intuitive and accessible online experience for CHW's target audience.

Competitor Research

Comprehensive Health and Wellness competes primarily with existing fitness and wellness programs integrated into the Army National Guard Federally. These programs often mimic the structure of the main Army Recruitment website, emphasizing clear and concise information presentation, following practices like BLUF (bottom line up front). However, many of these competitor websites tend to utilize an overused color palette commonly found in most Army-related websites.

In my redesign, I aim to adopt the practice of clear and concise information presentation, inspired by competitor websites, while infusing a distinctive color palette that reflects our brand identity.

Reflection: Summary of Concept and Solution

In redesigning the Comprehensive Health and Wellness (CHW) website, I focused on creating a platform that not only informs but also engages visitors. My primary aim was to make users feel welcomed, supported, and confident in their ability to access CHW's valuable resources. To achieve this, I streamlined the website's navigation, simplified the menu structure, and added a "Contact Us" section for easier communication. I wanted visitors to feel informed without being overwhelmed.

Visually, I emphasized a clean, user-friendly design with a dynamic color palette and intuitive layouts to convey professionalism and trustworthiness. I restructured and updated the content to be concise and engaging, clearly highlighting CHW's main call to actions, and their commitment to the five pillars of comprehensive health. Additionally, I incorporated high-quality, relatable images and graphics to complement the content and enhance the user experience.

Every change made had a purpose: to improve user experience, make information more accessible, and leave visitors empowered - knowing they have found a valuable resource to support their comprehensive health.
